The first 9 quires, containing Mágus saga jarls, include quire signatures O, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Y, indicating that the saga was once part of a larger collection of texts. The third bifolium in Quire P is bound out of order and can be seen in the order of the quire signatures: P., P.ii, P.iiii, P.v, P.iii.

Fol. 72r: On the lower half of the page, following the verse by the main scribe, are ownership and other notes: “Arker ad tølu tel 40.” in brown ink; “Olaf | O Olafssona Jodijsarstodumm á | bokena med Riettu, Ano 1794” in thin black ink; and “Mr Olafur Olafa Son | AnaStodum [0000 000]” written larger, in black ink.
Fol. 72v: Ownership notes: “Bok af | Olafur Olafs Son a bokinn med | Riettu …”, also written out again in a different, thinner pen.
Fol. 76v: Ownership note: “Þessa søgu Bok a Olafur Olaf Son a Ꜳnastødumm”, and under, in a different pen, “1811”. In the bottom right corner is another note written in a different, thinner pen. On the last line of the saga text is added in the same (or similar) thin pen, “ender og sögunnar”.
Decoration: The manuscript has a moderate level of decoration consisting mainly of embellished initials. Initials, usually 2 lines high, and running chapter numbers, open new chapters of Mágus saga jarls. Some of these initials are decorated with sketched faces. Larger initials open the two parts of the saga. These are 4 lines high (part one) and 10 lines high (part two), and are embellished with leaves and interlace patterns.
Date of origin: 1680
Place of origin: Iceland
Provenance: The copy of Mágus saga jarls may have been written for Magnús Jónsson í Vigur. The manuscript belonged to Ólafur Ólafsson of Jódísarstaðir (in 1794), and of Ánastaðir (later, at least by 1811).
